What Day Is it?

Everyone knows that as professional developers, we spend most of our time googling stuff and checking stack overflow.

Stack overflow is usually great for solving a specific problem, but blogs often have the best in-depth content on a particular topic. I’d take a well-written blog post over a stack overflow question most days, but they often have one critical thing missing.

I’m surprised at how often technical blogs don’t include a date on the page. I always want to know this information. Languages, APIs, techniques and best practices are constantly changing. Consequently, an out-of-date blog post can be very misleading.

With this in mind, I’ve gone date-crazy on this blog! I provide the published date, updated date, and verified date. Published date is the date that the first version of the post went up. Updated date is the date I last updated the post. Verified date is the last time I checked the post to ensure that the information is still relevant and current.

For the sake of future googlers, I encourage you to do something similar!
